PDST Primary RSE Seminars.

West Cork Education Centre.

This full day face to face seminar aims to support teachers and school leaders to improve their confidence and competence in the teaching and learning of Relationships and Sexuality Education, from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. This seminar will explore the sensitive elements of RSE within the context and structure of a whole school approach to SPHE in the Primary School.

Learning Objectives:

• To provide an overview of RSE as a core component of SPHE
• To explore the role and function of an RSE policy.
• To explore a range of methodologies for teaching RSE
• To explore strategies for creating a safe adn motivational classroom environment.
• To explore relevant research in the area of RSE

 Participants are asked to bring along their own copy of the RSE books entitled " Resource Materials for Relationships and Sexuality Education" which are available to download fromt the PDST Website or purchase from www.laoisedcentre.ie/pdstpublications/ YOu are invited to nominate one or two teachers from your school to attend this seminar. The DES will provide substitute cover where required. The groups will be limited to 24 participants and places are allocated on a first come firsst served basis.
