This 5 day course is run by the Forestry Foundation Education Centre on the Manch estate, near Ballineen, Co. Cork. Here we make maximum use of the 300 acres of woodland with rivers, ponds and the walled garden so that participants can experience and appreciate some of great benefits of outdoor education.
Many aspects of the science and geography curricula will be covered, as well as physical education and the visual arts. Whether your school has a small concrete yard or an expanse of grass and woodland, we will provide you with the knowledge and adaptability to provide predominantly outdoor activities for pupils at each class level.
Specific topics covered will include animal life in the woods and the water; native plant life; visual arts and creativity outdoors; map, compass and orienteering; applying mathematical skills in the natural world and biodiversity in the school environment.
Participants will work outdoors as much as possible with a chance to experience learning in the environment for themselves.
We will be outside every day so suitable clothing and footwear is essential
