National Heritage Competition for Primary Schools

Dear Principals and Teachers of Fourth, Fifth and Sixth classes,

Please find attached details of a competition being run by The Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. Their new national heritage plan 2030 will provide the overarching policy framework for managing Ireland’s built and national heritage over the next decade.

With this in mind The Department wishes to engage pupils in 4th, 5th and 6th classes to reflect on what our heritage means to them and to represent their ideas through an emoji and to tell us about their emoji (no more than 50 words).

We ask that if you participate in this competition please send a scanned version by email of your winning entries with cover form (a winner in 4th class, a winner in 5th and a winner in 6th ) to West Cork Education centre at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Closing date for entries is Tuesday 2 April. All the details are attached to this mail.

Thanking you for taking the time to read these details and I hope your pupils will engage with this initiative.

Dea ghuíthe,

Dympna Daly
