Mindfulness for Kids in Challenging Times

05/18/2020

Dear Colleague/Parent,

We hope that you found our first video series on Mindfulness for Kids in Challenging Times to be a valuable resource to your Educational Community or your own children.

This week our first new video (7 mins.) focuses on the loss that many pupils are struggling with, following the abrupt cessation of school,  in particular 6th class pupils.  Our second video (9 mins.) focuses on the effect that online peer communication can have on pupils' self-esteem.  In each video we share one Mindfulness technique that children can use to respond to the feelings of sadness, disappointment and dejection that these scenarios can trigger with strength and kindness. These videos are directly related to the SPHE curriculum, specifically the strand units Taking Care of my Body and Growing and Changing  in the strand Myself and the strand unit of Myself and my  Family in the strand Myself and Others.

Our intention here is to support teachers, parents and guardians in helping the children to resource themselves to meet the challenges of this time.

Below you will find the links to our Introductory Videofor Teachers, Parents and Guardians again along with the previous videos. In addition  the links for the new videos: The Mindfulness for Kids Sad Video and The Mindfulness for Kids Kindness Video  are also now available. We will release two more videos next Monday.  If you feel these videos would be of benefit to your educational community or your child, we would encourage you to share them. Feel free to leave a comment after you have watched a video.
