Léiríonn Bantry Cinemax Films FÍS ó bhunscoileanna Iarthar Chorcaí

Ba é Bantry Cinemax an t-ionad do thaispeántas an-rathúil scannán ag leanaí scoile in Iarthar Chorcaí ar an Máirt 4 Meitheamh, arna eagrú ag Harriet McCormack agus Ionad Tacaíochta Oideachais Iarthar Chorcaí. Bhí an-spraoi le feiceáil agus na haisteoirí óga ag súil go mór iad féin a fheiceáil ar an ‘Scáileán Mór’! Buíochas mór le Stephen Keohane a d’éascaigh an ócáid go flaithiúil leis an léiriú a bhí i bpictiúrlann an Bantry Cinemax. Deineadh na scannáin i scoileanna agus in áiteanna éagsúla timpeall ar Iarthar Chorcaí, ag léiriú buanna na ndaltaí agus radharcra áille Iarthar Chorcaí.

Is tionscadal scannán an-rathúil é FÍS do bhunscoileanna a úsáideann an scannánaíocht mar mheán léirithe maidir leis na healaíona, agus a chuireann páistí ar an eolas faoi ghnéithe den phróiseas déanta scannán. Spreagann sé cruthaitheacht agus samhlaíocht i measc leanaí agus a gcuid múinteoirí i mbunscoileanna na hÉireann.

Cuireann FÍS ar chumas páistí foghlaim faoi na teicníochtaí a bhaineann le scéal a insint trí scannán, lena n-áirítear: pleanáil, scriptiú, scéal-chlárú, ceamaraí, soilsiú, fuaim, ceol, dearadh seit, eagarthóireacht iarléiriúcháin, feisteas agus ar ndóigh aisteoireacht. Le linn an phróisis, forbraíonn leanaí scileanna cumarsáide, oibriú i bhfoireann, freagracht a ghlacadh, comhoibriú le daoine eile, cinntí a dhéanamh agus fadhbanna a réiteach.

Rinne an Stiúrthóir, an Dr Dympna Daly comhghairdeas leis na ceithre scoileanna in Iarthar Chorcaí a ghlac páirt i mbliana. Bhí an caighdeán ar fheabhas agus ar nós na Oscars, bhuaigh na scannáin na gradaim seo a leanas, agus b’í an Dr. Dympna Daly a bhronn:

Scannán is Fearr Aisteoirí : Scoil Náisiúnta Dhraighneach - 'Olympic Dreams'

Bantry Cinemax screens the FÍS Films by West Cork primary schools

Bantry Cinemax was the venue for the hugely successful screening of films by school children in West Cork on Tuesday 4th June, organised by Harriet McCormack and the West Cork Education Support Centre. The air of excitement was palpable with the young actors eager to see themselves on the ‘Big Screen’! Big thanks to Stephen Keohane who very generously facilitated the screening in Bantry Cinemax. The films were made in schools and various locations around West Cork, showing off their talents and scenery.

FÍS is a highly successful film project for primary schools that explores film as a medium of expression in relation to the arts and introduces children to aspects of the film-making process. It encourages creativity and imagination among children and their teachers in Irish primary schools.

FÍS enables children to learn about the techniques involved in telling a story through film, including: planning, scripting, storyboarding, cameras, lighting, audio, music, set design, post production editing, costume and of course acting. Throughout the process, children also develop skills in communicating, working in a team, taking responsibility, collaborating with others, making decisions and problem solving.

Director, Dr. Dympna Daly congratulated the four schools in West Cork who participated this year. The standard was superb and like the Oscars, the films won the following awards, which were presented by Dr. Dympna Daly:

Best Acted Film: Drinagh NS for 'Olympic Dreams'
Best Creative Environment: Kealkill NS for 'Tales of Mischief, The Things We Do & Crime Stories'
Best Costume Design: Leap NS for 'The 'Pea-ved' Princess'
Best Film Editing: Togher NS for 'Summer Holidays & The Big Showdown'

Well done to all the budding film makers in West Cork. Hollywood here they come!
