UPDATE SEPT 2020 Induction Workshops:
As you are aware, a number of Induction Workshops became available online during Term 3 2019/20. That online suite continues to be available to NQTs who require them throughout the term ahead via the NIPT online learning platform https://onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie.
Unfortunately, face-to-face workshops will not run in Term 1 2020/21 as the Induction Workshops will be entirely online for this term.
Two new online workshops will be added to the suite mid-way through this term:
Teacher Professionalism and Well-Being NIPTWS01 (Cross-Sectoral)
Múineadh na Gaeilge NIPTWS12 (Primary)
New NIPT Online Workshops
In light of the current situation regarding Covid-19 and the fact that West Cork Education Centre is currently unable to schedule the delivery of the Induction Workshop Programme (IWP), NIPT has informed us that the cross-sectoral workshop Child Protection & Safety (NIPT WS10) is now accessible via onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie
From May 22nd, the cross-sectoral workshop Inclusion (NIPT WS13) will be accessible.
The sector-specific Numeracy (NIPT WS11) workshop continues to be accessible for NQTs who have not yet engaged with or completed this workshop.
If you wish to access these online workshops, you should visit onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie and register for NIPT Online Workshops.
As you are aware, the Induction Workshop Programme is a requirement for teachers with this condition outstanding on their Teaching Council Registration. To this end, teachers who complete an NIPT online workshop will have fulfilled two hours of the twenty hour requirement for professional learning aligned with the Probationary/PQE Model. A certificate of completion will be available to any teacher who completes these online workshops.
Please note that if you have already completed the above workshops (face-to-face), you will not be credited for repeating the online version.
Please see Page 15 in Information booklet below for a NQT Workshop Attendance Record.
NB: All NQTs must have a Teaching Council number before they can register for the Induction Workshop Programme. The Induction Workshop Programme is not open to NQTs who are registered with a Further Education Teaching Council Number or whose registration is pending.
Important Information for NQTs regarding their registration requirements for the Teaching Council:
● Schools outside of the above categories are also offering Droichead. NQTs are asked to check with their schools as only one process can be offered at school level (i.e. Droichead or PQE [PP] / Probation [P].
● Engagement in the NIPT Induction Workshop Programme is a requirement for NQTs who are completing Probation (Primary) or PQE (Post-Primary).
● Attendance at workshops is not a requirement for NQTs engaging in the Droichead process.
● NQTs participating in Droichead may count a workshop as an Additional Professional Learning Activity, to address a professional learning need identified by them, in consultation with their PST.
