A craft based project for primary schools
The Crafts Council of Ireland, in partnership with the full-time Education Centres, was delighted to announce that the successful CRAFTed ‘Learning Skills for Life’ programme for primary schools would be available for a small number of primary schools in 2014.
Based on developing good collaborative practice between craftspeople and teachers, the Programme focuses on craft & design skills supporting integrated learning methodologies, with an emphasis on underpinning numeracy and literacy skills.
CRAFTed encourages excellence in the delivery of the Visual Arts (VA) curriculum and investigates how craft processes can contribute to learning in other subject areas such as Social, Environmental and Scientific Education (SESE) curriculum. Please visit www.learncraftdesign.com to learn more about the colourful and creative craft projects that took place in 128 schools around the county last year.
This was an exciting opportunity for both teachers and pupils to explore their creativity and learn new skills by working collaboratively with professional craftspeople.
